Acapulco Garden Club and The Loyola del Pacífico University
invite you to visit the Acapulco Botanical Garden "Esther
Pliego de Salinas"
The Botanical Garden is located in the Southern Sierra
Madre Mountains, which surround Acapulco at an altitude
of between 660 and 1300 feet (200 and 400 meters) above
sea level. The garden has two creeks, one has year round
water and the other only surfaces during the rain season.
The tropical and semi-humid climate has it's rainy season
during the Summer months and winter is very dry.
In this tropical botanical garden you will find native
plants and al collection of palms and cycads, desert
plants, hardwoods as well as flowering and fruit trees,
shrubs, heliconias and gingers, bromeliads, aeroids,
ferns and vines among others.
The majority of the native fauna is composed of different
types of species such as birds among which we can find
parrot, Pandion hatiaetus (Fisher Eagle), Penelope purpurascens
(Cojolite, a species of pheasant), Penelopina nigra
(Chachalaca negra o Pajuil). Reptiles such as iguanas,
lizards and snakes: Ctenosaura pectinata (Tropical lizard),
Iguana (Green Iguana); and a few mammals: Pseudocheirus
peregrinnis (Ringtail Possum); and Procyon lotor (raccoon).
The Acapulco Botanical Garden is a non profit organization
created: To provide its visitors with a different, pleasant
and peaceful entertainment. To educate through nature's
flora and fauna appreciation. To increase awareness
of the environment and the preservation of the equilibrium
of the ecosystem. To present an interesting and varied
collection of native and foreign tropical plants. To
attract and involve students in its activities.

Address instructions:
To get to the Acapulco Botanical Garden you must take
the Scenic Drive Highway towards the airport called
Carreterra Escénica and when you reach an overpass,
go under it turning left. Follow the road uphill until
you reach the Loyola University. The garden in located
on its premises. There is parking available.
