A variety of fish and shellfish dishes are on the menu, but the specialty of the house is the red snapper a la talla (basted with chile and other spices and broiled over hot coals).

Other Restaurants

Suntory
Costera Miguel Alemán 36, Acapulco, Mexico 39850
This spot offers some of the best traditional Japanese cuisine in the city and is open for lunch and dinner. Diners may sit outside in the Asian garden or inside at a teppanyaki table where chefs dazzle you while they prepare meat, fish and vegetables. Sushi is also served, and it's fresh and expertly prepared.

Coyuca 22
Av Coyuca 22, Acapulco, Mexico 39390
With a view looking out over the bay and old Acapulco, This restaurant earns raves from around the world. Diners are seated on terraces that take in the panoramic view - come a bit early if you want the gorgeous Pacific sunset to be part of your dining experience. The menu offers prix fixe and a la carte options. There is a nightly fresh fish specialty, and the New Zealand lamb chops and veal scallopini are perennial favorites. Seafood lovers will want to try the shrimp Provencal or the exquisite grilled lobster tails. The prime rib also has a citywide reputation for being tender, juicy and delicious. Coyuca 22 is closed May through October.

Baikal
Carretera Escénica, Acapulco, Mexico 39879
The exquisite and ultra-hot Baikal is the best place in Acapulco for an over-the-top dining experience. You enter from the street then descend a spiral staircase into the stunning dining area. The restaurant itself is constructed into the cliff, providing sweeping views of Acapulco Bay's glittering lights. The large dining room, with a two-story ceiling, has comfortable seating, including sofas that border the room. The creative menu combines fusion fare, then adds a dash of Mexican flare. There's also an extensive selection of wines, as well as live piano music nightly. A fashionably late dining spot (expect a crowd at midnight), the attire is chic resort wear, as most patrons are headed to the clubs following dinner.

La Cabana de Caleta
Playa Caleta Lado Ote, Acapulco, Mexico 39390
In the 1950s this local favorite was a bohemian hangout that attracted renowned bullfighters along with Mexican songwriter Agustin Lara and his lady love, Maria Felix. You can see their photos over the bar and sample the same dishes that made the place famous back then. For traditional Mexican cuisine with an innovative twist, try baby shark tamales - they're the house specialty. The steaming seafood casserole and curried shrimp sautéed in garlic and sea salt also win raves. Non-seafood eaters will enjoy feasting on spicy chicken tacos. La Cabana offers lockers and showers for those that want to take a dip in the warm waters of the bay.

Kookaburra
Carretera Escénica, Acapulco, Mexico 39889
Kookaburra is one of the most romantic and exclusive restaurants in Acapulco. The restaurant sits on a scenic mountain, in the Las Brisas residential complex, nestled under a cool thatched roof and offering a marvelous Bay view. Adding a touch of romance, the restaurant is lit entirely by candlelight and without other sources of light. This is the perfect place to enjoy fresh seafood or a delicious steak, as well as original gastronomic creations with Mexican ingredients prepared in a French style, resulting in a unique cuisine.

El Cabrito
Costera Miguel Alemán 1480, Acapulco, Mexico 76805
For affordable dining with authentic Mexican flair, check out this festive eatery. El Cabrito means "the goat" and that's this restaurant's specialty. Waitresses in traditional Mexican costume serve roasted goat with charro beans, tequila shrimp and mole - a sauce made with rich chocolate and spicy chilies. Charbroiled steaks are another favorite, as are the pina coladas, which are said to be the best in Acapulco.
