By far the most popular beach is La Condesa, centre of the bay. A nice slope to the waters edge and you can stand and bob around past where the waves break. This beach has restaurants that offer beach service along with lounge chairs and shade umbrellas. The waves are big enough there to give you some thrills. You can rent pwc’s, parasail, etc, or just watch all that’s goings on, we liked that beach for sunning, the vendors seem to be concentrated on this stretch of beach.....

The beaches on each side of La Condesa are wider, the fisherman drag there pangas up on shore at those beaches, they are busy in the mornings and the activity make for wonderful photo opts... The beach sand is more compacted and the slope to the water is not as extreme, probably why the fishermen choose these beaches. That and the proximity to the Market.... nice to stroll along those beaches.

Caleta and Caletilla are publicly run beaches, lots of families with small kids use this beach, the water is very calm, a swimming area has been buoyed to prevent motor craft from entering. Good place to get your hair braided or neck massaged. The mariachi singers will play you a tune and you can sing along if you know the words..... Not really a place to sun because of the activity, good food and a nice spot to enjoy a few hours.....

Pie de la Cuesta (sunset beach) is out of the city and about an hours bus ride along a nice scenic road. Sit on the driver’s side for some great views of the Pacific. Go early, there are restaurants that offer beach service along with shade and lounges, they also have hammocks for snoozing. Great beach for sunning and solitude. Stay for the sunset, last bus back to Acapulco is around 10pm, the sun sets at about 7pm.... you will need pesos to pay your tab. There are no atms' or banks and the businesses there do not accept plastic.... there is taxi service and the fare was from 50 pesos to 100 pesos one way. Bus was 3 pesos for one way for 2 persons.

Puerto Marques is out towards the airport, calm clear water, there are the usual beach restaurants, that will cater to your needs, vendors etc. ply along trying to sell their items. Nice beach but a little stuffy. Easy to get to by bus also....

Further out by the airport is desolate, there are some spots, but they are far and few between.... bus service is a little confusing and you have to walk quite a ways. Best to explore out that way with a car or go with folks that are familiar with the specific restaurants etc. We spent the day at the Sea Garden beach club; it was a most welcomed oasis.... good beach for surfing, the waves break far from shore...
